We discovered the cozy Taverna Concordia, where few tourists get lost, when we were desperately looking for an open restaurant at 5 pm after a hard day’s work cutting down trees and cleaning up construction dust.
Many restaurants and pizzerias don’t open until 7pm.
That’s how we came across the Taverna Concordia in Laveno Mombello.
They still serve pinse, the ancestor of pizza, and we particularly love l’abbuffata, a huge platter of sausage, cheese, pinse and deep-fried vegetable rolls for four people.
And what makes me particularly happy: a large selection of delicious craft beers!
The couple who run the place are super friendly and when we come with our dog, we get a spot outside to the side, from where you can also catch a glimpse of the lake.
Inside, it’s unspectacular but cozy.
There is an adjoining room for larger groups and even then the food comes quickly and tasty.
Fun fact: The owner has a German father and speaks practically no German.
But a German menu is available!
